Real World Case #2

1.      Microsoft products are all very closely related. Almost so closely that one wont work without the other. Most of their new products will have to be purchased to upgrade an already used system. They are also changing their Software Assurance licensing policy and fee. The downside is that most business will opt to purchase upgrade equipment and software from companies that will be compatible with what they already have. Also, the policy and fee will raise costs.

2.      Large users do not have to get rid of their mainframes and Sun, IBM, or Oracle Unix servers that are working just fine. Microsofts software will work just fine with them. The downside is that the whole system wont be state of- the- art and -up to- date. It wont all be brand new.

3.      Linux and other open source servers can be used with any brand system products. This will be very tempting to businesses that want to upgrade, but not get rid of all of the equipment already in use. This might definitely put a dent in Microsofts sales. Everyone wants to save money!
